I have no idea whether I'm allowed to show this yet, so I'll assume yes and apologise profusely later.
I just got the cover for Hal Spacejock Just Desserts (book three in the series), and the result is eye catching and rather special:
Nice work, Dion!
In other news, the first print run of Hal Spacejock (book one) is just about gone, and Fremantle Arts have confirmed a second print run. This second printing will feature a brand new Dion Hamill cover to match the rest of the series, so the original version is destined to become @RARE@ if not @MINT@
Simon Haynes is the author of the Hal Spacejock and Hal Junior series (Amazon / Smashwords / other formats)

This is definitely the best Hal cover by far - it's so vibrant and colourful :) I'm eager to see what Dion comes up with for book one though. Of course, I still love Hal and Clunk from the first book the best - you just can't match those zany looks :p
If you'd like to see a whole raft of different Hal covers, check this page (Scroll down to the bottom.)
I do like Clunk's grin from book one, but you only have to read the books to know that's not what he looks like. Covers often depart from the books inside, so that's not a problem.
I'm also hanging out to see the new Hal 1 cover. Dion usually sends my publisher a pencil rough first, and I get to comment on that which is nice. For example, I suggested the Hal 3 cover included a couple of Tastee bars sticking out of Hal's uniform pocket - a minor change, but it ties the cover to the plot.
I can understand why that woman in the background looks so sceptically - who would trust a space pilot with such an, well, unusual taste in uniform colours. :)
Nice one, Simon and Dion! I'm so glad they're reprinting HS1 and I'll look forward to seeing the new cover. I do like the old one, though. And I don't see Clunk on HS3:-(
Hal's got his elbow on Clunk's head, and Clunk is trying to drink a cup of oil.
